As an Apprentice at Babtec
You can join us as an apprentice in technical or commercial areas. In cooperation with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), you will receive in-depth training as a specialist with excellent prospects for the future. You will also have great colleagues, exciting topics, professional support and a good chance of being taken on if you perform well – all in a state-of-the-art, medium-sized company with several locations in Germany and Europe. We have not set an application deadline, but the earlier you apply, the more likely it is that we will be able to offer you a place.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have a dedicated contact person in our People and Culture team who will guide you through your training. You will also have your mentors in the specialist departments in which you are assigned, who will be on hand to help and advise you with any questions or concerns you may have.
We are currently training you at our headquarters in Wuppertal.
Depending on your training, you will be taught at the Barmen Europaschule or the Berufskolleg am Haspel.
Your apprenticeship usually lasts three years.
In the first year of training you will receive €931, in the second €1,005 and in the third €1,087 per month as a apprenticeship allowance. As an apprentice, you can also look forward to vacation pay (75% of your monthly salary) and a Christmas bonus (€1,500)!
No, you are currently only working in Wuppertal.
Yes, your apprenticeship will take place in different departments in order to fully cover all aspects of your training in practice.
A good school-leaving certificate, motivation and a desire to learn are the most important prerequisites for a successful apprenticeship with us.

The practical part of your dual study program takes place at our headquarters in Wuppertal.
3 years = 6 semesters (FHDW Mettmann)
3.5 years = 7 semesters (IU Düsseldorf & FOM Düsseldorf)
Babtec will pay your tuition fees. You can also look forward to continuous remuneration during the theoretical and practical phases. We also top up your student wallet with vacation and Christmas bonuses.
You will currently only be employed in Wuppertal.
You will work in all departments relevant to your studies so that you can fully cover all aspects of your studies in practice.
Must-haves for your application are a general (technical) university entrance qualification and knowledge of English. Skills and qualities that you can certainly benefit from in the dual study program are
- initial practical experience in IT
- abstract thinking
- analytical skills
- technical understanding
- self- reliance
- goal orientation
- enjoying communication and teamwork
But we also want to get to know you if you don't have all of these skills or characteristics. We focus on people and their individual personalities – even during the application process.
There are two models in the dual study program: firstly, the split week with three days of practical work and two days of theory, and secondly, practical and theoretical blocks that alternate every three months. Both models have their advantages, depending on how you prefer to learn.
IU Düsseldorf: In the split week model, you spend three days a week in practice (a total of 20 hours) and two days at the university, where you learn everything you need for practice in on-site and online courses.
FOM Düsseldorf: The day study model at the FOM works in a very similar way. Here you complete courses at the university two days a week from 8:30 am to 3:45 pm. On the other days, you get the practical kick with us.
FHDW Mettmann: Here, theoretical and practical phases alternate every three months in a block model, which gives you longer focus times.
