Automotive Core Tools

For companies in the automotive industry, it is essential to know the Automotive Core Tools and to map them as part of quality management. However, companies in other industries also benefit from the best practices of the automotive industry.

The automotive industry's empirical values resulted in the Automotive Core Tools.

Requirements in the automotive industry are constantly growing – and with them the relevance of defining solutions to the challenges.

They include six proven QM methods for manufacturing companies.

These include Statistical Process Control, FMEA, APQP with Control Plan, Measurement System Analysis, PPAP and the 8D method.

With Babtec's QM software, you map the Automotive Core Tools.

With the appropriate modules of the on-premises software BabtecQ, you meet the requirements of the automotive industry as well as IATF 16949.

QM Methods Defined by the Automotive Industry

Why the Automotive Core Tools are important

The "Automotive Core Tools" resulted from the experience of the automotive industry: these comprise six proven quality management methods that are almost indispensable for the automotive industry itself as well as for manufacturing companies in other sectors. And there are good reasons for this:

  • The methods summarized in the Automotive Core Tools support the requirements of IATF 16949 – a crucial standard for the automotive industry.
  • Due to the latest technologies and innovations, the demands in the automotive industry are constantly growing – not only for the end product, but also for each supplier part. It is therefore essential to professionally map and document the entire product development process, from planning before the start of series production to on-time delivery to the customer.
  • In addition, the Automotive Core Tools support employees in optimizing quality-related processes and procedures and ensuring the company's long-term success.

Which Modules of our QM Software Are Necessary for This

To comply with the recommendations of the automotive industry, six modules of the on-premises software BabtecQ are required. These support the requirements of IATF 16949 and help you to plan your processes professionally – whether before the start of series production or during production. Thus, the Automotive Core Tools offer significant added value for manufacturing companies in any industry.

With the Statistical Process Control (SPC) module, you use statistical methods for time and unit-count controlled analysis of your production processes. In the process, statistical key figures are automatically recorded and processed. Through SPC, you optimize your production processes by detecting and consequently avoiding errors.

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is an analytical method for discovering possible errors before they occur – and thus for proactively avoiding them. With the BabtecQ module of the same name, you perform standard-compliant design and process FMEAs and document the results.

With the dynamic Control Plan, you monitor, plan, and document all quality-relevant process and inspection steps of your products as part of your advance quality planning. The best thing about it: you can derive such a Control Plan directly from the preceding process FMEA.

In the "Gage Management" module, you always have an eye on the capability of gages and systems in terms of Measuring System Analysis. Ensure the quality of the measurement processes and ensure the trustworthiness of your test equipment.

The module for initial sample inspections helps you to effectively carry out and manage your release procedures. The AIAG (PPAP) and VDA 2 (PPF) requirements relevant in the automotive industry are supported. In this way, you ensure that you only produce goods when they meet the required quality standards.

With the "Complaint Management" module, we support both sides: customers can create supplier complaints, while suppliers resolve their customers' concerns quickly and efficiently. Complaint processing is always based on the proven 8D method.
